HOME - COURSES - CLOSE PROTECTION
Close Protection
This course has been specifically designed for individuals or teams working within the close protection industry.
It was developed based on a number of years first hand experience as a CP officer and medical knowledge gained whilst serving within the UK Special Forces.
Many courses train to paramedic level, this qualification is now impossible to maintain due to regulations governing how much time is spent on dealing with real time casualties. It takes into account the amount of equipment a medic can carry, bearing in mind your Principle will be passing through many borders and customs posts. He or she will not wait for you to clear through customs.
This course not only covers trauma injuries (gunshot, stab and blast injuries) it also looks in depth into more likely medical emergencies such as heart attacks, angina, diabetes and asthma and the most likely event of all RTA’s.
The course syllabus contains:
The course content may be changed to reflect the existing knowledge or candidates.
• Assessment of scene.
• Care and assessment of unconscious casualty.
• Airway and Cervical Spine management.
• Mouth to mouth resuscitation.
• CPR.
• Asthma.
• Angina.
• Anaphylaxis.
• Heart Attacks.
• Diabetes.
• Head and Spinal Injuries.
• Major bleeds including stab and gunshot wounds.
• Fractures (recognition and management).
• Burns (heat, electrical and chemical).
• RTA management, to include problems characteristics of modern cars.
All the above will be dealt with in theory and then in role play using realistic stage make up and realistic scenarios. In this way dealing with casualties can be carried out whilst maintaining the required response in protecting the principle or principles.
These scenarios are designed to be testing but also to imprint the protocols of good first aid in the mind; you never have a manual when the need arises. They also highlight the difficulties in dealing with casualties in live CP scenarios which are not readily seen in theory lessons.
